The following is a statement of policy on Health & Safety which the management will display, and bring to the attention of all employees to comply with the act under the Ministry of Business Innovation and Employment.
It is the policy of this firm to ensure that this Safety & Health policy Statement is observed and acted upon in every way. Every Employee of this firm will be given a copy of this statement.
Every accident at work, however trivial, must be reported to David Smith (our Safety Manager) and details must be entered into the Accident Book for record pulposes.
Employees on request to David Smith will be given access to this book for inspection. Employees are invited to comment on and make suggestions on safety matters to David Smith or Carol Smith.
Where a particular risk is identified new precautions will be recommended, and notices issued. Carol Smith (if David Smith is absent) will arrange for Safety meetings on a regular basis.
The firm will investigate all incidents which caused, or might have oaused injury.
Safety equipment issed to or supplied for the use of employees must be cared for and USED, and the firm will take steps to ensure compliance, but each individual must take care and use safety equipment.
It is the firm's intention to achieve a high standard of health and safety for its employees, as is required by the Act of Parliament. It is also the duty of each employee to act responsibly to ensure the safety of their selves, their fellow employees and others.
When painting within school property care will be taken to ensure the health and safety of all students, teachers and administration staff. Any hazards that are identified will be brought to the attention of the appropriate personal to mitigate any risk and minimize any hazards. This also applies to general painting duties including residential and commercial property.
Hazard - Painters working at high levels.
Precaution - all scaffolds, ladders, tools and equipment to be secured in a safe manner.
Hazard.- Using electrical leads and appliances.
Precaution - ensure all leads and electrical equipment is safe and checked every six months. All work areas demarcated byhazard warning tape and signs where applicable. Hazard- Painters using high pressure cleaning equipment, water-blasters and chemical treatments.
Precaution - all cleaning chemical treatment and waterblasting to be completed outside normal school hours, and in a safe manner on all properties.
Hazard -All products that are identified by the manufactures as being hazardous, all staff must take the necessary precautions including ventilation, protective clothing, gloves and dust masks to reduce the exposure to hazardous substances.
We currently hold a building and construction passport from Site Safe to comply with NZ regulations.
